Donald Trump will meet with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky despite repeated criticism during the presidential election campaign. Former US President Trump himself said that he will meet with Zelensky in New York on Friday local time.

Qatari media Al Jazeera reported that Trump has repeatedly expressed doubts about Ukraine’s ability to defeat Russia in a war. Even during the election campaign, he criticized the President of Ukraine. However, he has now agreed to meet with Zelensky, ignoring those.

Just a few hours ago, US President Joe Bain announced an additional $4 billion in military aid to Ukraine. And Kamala Harris, the presidential candidate from the Democratic Party in the upcoming US presidential election, met with Zelenskyi and promised unwavering support to Ukraine. Immediately after this, Trump announced to meet with Zelensky.

The British media reported that the meeting comes a day after Trump criticized the Ukrainian president for refusing to sign an agreement with Moscow.

Trump and Zelensky’s relationship has long been strained. Trump was impeached in 2019 for allegedly pressuring Zelensky for information about Biden’s family.

This time, Trump wants to forget that bitterness and sit in a meeting with Zelensky. Although he railed against Zelensky at a campaign rally in North Carolina last Wednesday, the United States continues to pay billions of dollars to a leader who is not ready to compromise. According to him, a peace agreement at any price is much better than the current situation.
