Ladakh educationist and environmentalist Sonam Wangchuk arrested by Delhi Police. Around 120 Ladakhis, including Sonam, have been detained at the Delhi border. It is known that they were going to Delhi to hold a march demanding inclusion of Ladakh in the Sixth Schedule.
According to the Indian media Hindustan Times, they were detained by the police at the entrance to the capital Delhi. The detainees, including Wangchuk, were taken to Alipur police station and other police stations along the Delhi-Haryana border.
The whole of Ladakh has been affected by this incident. Hundreds of people came down on the streets of Ladakh on Tuesday. They kept saying, ‘Delhi Police, Shaim Shaim.’
It is known that 120 Ladakh residents including Sonam were arrested on Monday night. Sonam was at Haryana border without entering Delhi at that time. He wanted to spend the night there. However, they were detained due to the ban on gatherings in Delhi, police said.
Police claim. Earlier they requested them to go back from there. However, 120 protestors including Sonam were arrested as the police did not comply with the request. Delhi Police officials said that they will be released after some time.
Sonam Wangchuk made a post on social media yesterday. It is seen there, he and hundreds of people are at the Delhi border. A large number of police are present there. The police stopped their bus.
Meanwhile, Congress leader MP Rahul Gandhi has expressed concern about Sonam’s arrest. In a post on social media, he wrote, ‘Sonam Wangchuk has been arrested. Besides, hundreds of peaceful Ladakh residents have been arrested. They wanted to march peacefully.
