Shah Amanat International Airport of Chittagong along with foreign currency worth about two and a half million taka. A passenger named Zakir Hossain was detained by Customs Intelligence and National Security Intelligence (NSI). He was detained from Dubai-bound flight BS 343 at 8 am on Thursday (September 19). The flight was going from Dhaka to Dubai via Chittagong.

In a press release, the officials said, based on secret information from Dhaka, the Chittagong intelligence team of the Customs Intelligence and Investigation Department took a position at the Shah Amanat International Airport. At one stage of intelligence surveillance, when the flight landed in Chittagong from Dhaka, the passengers from the plane were arrested with the help of NSI. Zakir Hussain was brought to the airport in intelligence custody. Later, in the presence of various organizations, 7 lakh 70 thousand Saudi riyals and 46 thousand dirhams were found in the passenger’s bag. In Bangladeshi taka, that is 2 crore 44 lakh 80 thousand taka.

The notification informed that the seized foreign currency has been deposited in the warehouse of Custom House Chittagong. It also said that the process of filing a criminal case is ongoing. The detained Zakir Hossain is a resident of Sikkatuli Lane, Banshal, Dhaka.
