Suga, a member of the K-pop band BTS, was fined 15 million won ($11,500) for driving an electric scooter while drunk, media reported.

Suga (real name Min Yoon-gi) was fined in August. That month, police found the K-pop star trying to stand up after falling off a scooter near his home in Seoul. The police found that he was drunk.

Sugar’s blood alcohol level was 0.227 percent, higher than the legal limit of 0.08 percent, local media reported on police.

A district court in Seoul imposed the fine on Suga last Friday. Besides, his driving license has also been cancelled.

The rapper lamented in August that he drove his scooter drunk in Seoul, thinking he wasn’t going very far. He also claimed that he had forgotten that electric scooters cannot be used while drunk.

Suga added, ‘Although no one was hurt and no property was damaged, I take full responsibility for it.

‘To those who were hurt by my carelessness and misbehaviour, I apologize. I will make sure that nothing like this happens in the future.’

Suga was widely criticized after this incident. Some asked him to leave BTS. In South Korea, people generally want to see a very clean image of K-pop idols. However, many of Suga’s fans have stood by him in this incident.

Suga, 31, is currently serving as a social service agent in the military. He was declared unfit for regular military duty.
