Getting drenched in the rain can put your health at risk. Rainwater falling on your head can lead to common ailments like colds, fevers, and coughs, as the rate of bacterial or viral infections tends to increase on rainy days. Taking precautions is essential to staying healthy, especially when heading outdoors during uncertain weather conditions.

With today’s advanced information technology, we can now get weather forecasts much earlier. So if rain is predicted, be sure to carry an umbrella or wear a raincoat when you leave the house.

Here’s what you can do to stay healthy on rainy days:

1. Dry Off Immediately

If you happen to get wet in the rain, dry yourself off as soon as you return home. Wipe off any rainwater from your body and change into dry clothes.

Before heading out on a rainy day, pack an extra set of clothes, an umbrella, or a raincoat in your bag. This will help you stay dry and avoid getting sick.

Symptoms such as fever, muscle pain, and weakness are common signs. To prevent mosquito outbreaks, ensure that stagnant water around your house, in flower pots, reservoirs, and drains, is cleaned regularly. Use mosquito nets while sleeping to avoid bites. If you experience a prolonged fever, consult a doctor immediately.
