The whole world is responsible for what is happening to us

Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas

Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas has blamed the whole world for what is happening in Gaza and the West Bank. He made this complaint in his address to the United Nations General Assembly session on Thursday.

In his speech, Mahmud Abbas said, ‘This madness cannot continue. The whole world is responsible for what is happening to our people. I request you, in the name of Allah, stop this crime. Close now. Stop killing children and women. Stop the genocidal war on Gaza. Stop sending arms to Israel.’

Referring to Palestine as the motherland, Abbas said, “We will not leave (this land). This is our ancestral land. It will be ours.’

Rejecting Israel’s claim that civilians are not being killed in Gaza, Abbas said, “I ask you, who killed more than 15,000 children?”

In a UN address, Abbas called for a permanent and comprehensive ceasefire in Gaza. He also demanded an end to attacks on Israeli settlers in the West Bank and Jerusalem. At the same time, he called for the complete withdrawal of the Israeli army from Gaza.

More than 40,000 Palestinians have been killed in the Gaza war since October 7 last year. More than 98 thousand people were injured. The United Nations says most of the Palestinians killed in Gaza are women and children.
