India’s Defense Minister, Rajnath Singh, emphasized the nation’s peaceful stance, stating, “We hold no enmity in our hearts towards anyone and have never attacked any country.” His remarks were made during the Shastra Puja ceremony at Sukna Cantonment in Darjeeling on the occasion of Vijaya Dashami.
Singh, while celebrating with army officers and soldiers on Saturday, said, “Today’s festival symbolizes the victory of good over evil, as when Lord Rama defeated Ravana, symbolizing a victory for humanity.”
India’s Approach to Defense and Sovereignty
The Defense Minister highlighted India’s policy of non-aggression, noting, “We have only fought when our integrity and sovereignty were disrespected, or when a country waged war against religion, truth, and human values. The worship of arms is symbolic, showing that we are prepared to use our full power when necessary.”
On India’s preparedness, Singh assured that the country’s armed forces remain vigilant and ready to respond to any provocations. “The alert presence of our armed forces on the border ensures there is little possibility of any incidents,” he said, adding, “However, we cannot afford to ignore any possible provocations from neighboring countries in the current global situation.”
Focus on National Security
Rajnath Singh also underlined the importance of national security, stating, “Since assuming responsibility for the Ministry of Defence, I have consistently emphasized the importance of preparedness, regardless of the global situation. We must always remain proactive and have all options at our disposal to ensure the strength of our national security.”
